Hello World!

This blog was created due to a series of unfortunate events (Doesn't sound very original, but it is still very true). Had a skateboard accident about 5 months ago and so I've been on the mend these past few months. Served almost like rehab from my Urethane/Asphalt addiction.

Now I've turn to the least likely new interest: make up. Even I was a bit suspicious of myself lately. But who says a girl who skates can't enjoy being a girl every now and then? I wasn't at all athletic before I tried out skateboarding. So here it is, my first semi-serious foray into make up. Make up for me was always part of a necessity attached to something else: theater performances, chorale concerts, ballet recitals, weddings, graduation, HS prom and being a (now former) stewardess. Not to say that I didn't enjoy it before. It's just now I am starting to appreciate the details about it. I realize that it can be a really technical skill aside from being a creative one. Plus it's really fun!

I have always been curious about fashion and fashion icons and art. I was watching a series of Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick documentaries on YouTube. Then I stumbled upon a make up tutorial by the one of the Pixiwoo sisters, where Sam was doing a Edie Sedgwick-inspired look. I then started to watch more of their videos and I was amazed by their creativity, skill and appreciation for all things different and beautiful. They made me pay attention to make up and all it's forms and facets. And I also realize I am only at the precipice.

Now I don't really intend to be a make up artist nor am i skilled or highly experienced with make up. I just like reading, watching and experimenting on my own with my slowly growing collection of tools and palettes. It's also nice to read what other people are doing with their make up and seeing that not only girly girls are playing as well.

So what this blog will contain maybe some products/techniques I'll be trying for the very first time, inspirations, things I've read regarding make up. I don't promise anything really deep or professionally thought out. I just say it as I see it. After all, as François Nars said: Don't be too serious, it's only make up.
